377 students from over 30 schools participated in the WrOpenUp workshops in 2017/2018 edition. We are proud that every year more and more students benefit from the experience of our experts. The 2017/2018 school year is not just a workshop. These are also other important and interesting events.
The focus of the third edition of the WrOpenUp competition that took place in the year 2017 was on the organization of school Diversity Day and useful as well as interesting workshops. First place in the competition went to the teams from High School No.5 and Middle School No.34. The teams from High School No. 4 and Middle Schools No. 13 and 9 received an honorable mention. Congratulations to both the students and the teachers!
"Veronica". The heroine of the documentary made by Joanna Ciosek, Aleksandra Olszewska and Sylwia Wilczyńska came to Wroclaw from Mexico. H
Veronica says that Poles rarely smile, because it is cold in Poland. In summer it changes. In a moving, warm way, she talks about her family, her experiences in discovering Wrocław and getting to know its inhabitants.
You can immerse yourself in a culture a bit different from ours, get to know it gradually, without leaving Wroclaw. "Enclave" - a short documentary film about Latin culture, about the fact that culture is primarily people. The protagonists talk about the need for openness and respect that enable to get to know and understand another culture. Filmed by Joanna Waczyńska and Blazej Szulecki.
The experience of being different in your country. The heroine of the short film "Amaka", daughter of a Pole and a Nigerian, is looking for her identity. She is studying the symptoms of discrimination in language, she received the prestigious Fullbright scholarship for her research. Authors of the film: Pola Janusz, Emilia Wach, Joanna Waraksa, Maciej Gąsiewicz and Rafał Rygiel presenting Margaret Amaka Ohia.
WrOpenUp is non commercial project run by highly skilled volunteers from different sectors like City Government, nonprofit, education, artists, media and Business with international employees mainly from GOOGLE, IBM, HPE, UBS, Credit Suisse and Volvo. All volunteering coordinators are engaged in active co-creation and personal participation.
